Dear Reviewer,

I am an American who is interested in an ESL job opportunity. Settling abroad and teaching English is a serious interest of mine. After graduating college, I enlisted into the military. I finished my 4 year enlistment in March 2007. I have spent 15 months in the Portuguese islands of the Azores (Terceira is the specific island) and a total of 27 months in Korea, in this capacity. By choice I signed up for two separate tours in Korea. The military also provided me the opportunity to visit England. I have worked as a camp counselor and a kid¡¯s coach where I entertained, interacted, socialized, engaged, lived among, and provided outdoor/indoor recreation activities to kids and young adults for their learning. Some of my other interests outside of work and study are participating in community/squadron activities-such as a haunted house, holiday parties, an Easter egg hunt, the Commander¡¯s going-away party, and many fundraisers as a part of the Booster Club. My volunteer efforts for a squadron Christmas party enhanced squadron morale. I assisted with set-up and decorations Also, I received a letter of appreciation for volunteering 22 hours sorting and pitching mail during the busy holiday season. And $500 dollars was raised for organization activities when I served as the point man for a squadron car wash/bake sale. 37 Volunteers were organized by me for the event. I also engaged in an English conversational course where American military met with Korean military to help support them in sharpening their English skills for an hour on Saturday. In my previous employment as an instructor, I have been educated through my experiences. In the future, I plan on settling and teaching English in a place of my choice while pursuing not just a job, but a growing long term career there.

Teaching English and settling in a foreign country is an interest of mine. I believe I would enjoy using my knowledge, skills, and experiences to shape the minds of a class, especially if I was given the opportunity to instruct on a regular basis. My use of the English language would be an example for my class to follow and act upon. I¡¯ve witnessed people speaking or learning to speak the English language in ever country I¡¯ve been, so I realize that learning English is important to many people abroad. During my experiences before, I¡¯ve briefly met and conversed with many Non-American English teachers in the many districts. I¡¯ve also attended many ¡°English parties¡± where people gathered together to learn English through conversations with native English speakers. I have also learned some of their language from them. During my years traveling, I have been introduced to a small part of the ¡°English scene¡±; I am looking forward to becoming a part of it and seeing the bigger picture. I am also interested in everything related to England (of course where the English language originated) from the people, places, history, composition, literature, and most importantly in this case-the language.

After studying and working in several fields, I have discovered the route I should take. I do plan on studying for a formal English Education degree and certificates in the future in order to provide myself with more opportunities to teach English and settle abroad. However, I want to go the ESL job route first. I do have teaching, informal training, and relevant experience. I am also a fast learner on the job. I believe that my present education and experiences have instilled in me these strong performance standards that I can apply to an ESL job opportunity as I learn more how to teach English:
• Performing assigned duties the best I can
• Learning effectively about primary duties
• Complying well with standards
• Conducting myself in a good manner on/off duty
• Supervising and leading strongly
• Efficiently completing training requirements
• Comfortably communicating well with others

I am really open to different job factors and don¡¯t really have many preferences that will keep me from taking an ESL job if offered, but I am seeking a known private elementary school located in or near Busan city or Seoul. Private and elementary are only preferences. My previous employment contract as an instructor ended at the end of April. I am available to start work in an ESL job asap. I am taking a break here until the beginning of my next employment contract. I have included all of the necessary documents for this application process. If I need to be contacted, the above information can be used anytime. Thanks in advance for your service and your review.

Sincerely yours,

Tevis Demorreo Ponder

PROFILE
As an American, settling abroad and teaching is an activity that I would enjoy. England was one of my first destinations of travel because I am interested in many facets of English customs and culture, including the language. Before through briefly meeting and conversing with many teachers and students of English during my travels to other countries, I can see that learning English is important to many foreigners. Now having been employed as an instructor, I see that as well. In the future, I do plan on studying for an English Education degree and certificates to increase my opportunities to settle and teach English in a place of my choice while pursuing a growing long term career there. But as for an ESL job now, I believe that my past education and experiences have instilled in me these strong performance standards that I can apply: being a fast learner, performing assigned duties the best I can, learning effectively about primary duties, complying well with standards, conducting myself in a good manner on/off duty, supervising and leading strongly, efficiently completing training requirements, and comfortably communicating with others. I am seeking employment as an instructor with a known private elementary school in Busan or Seoul; however private and elementary are only preferences. I am available asap and can be contacted anytime.
